Since I'm a book-worm, I thought I'd start a book club on here.
Use this thread to tell us about any books you've read recently. Tell us books you'd recommend and books we should avoid, your favourite authors, your favourite genres, what you're reading at the moment... etc.... Basically anything to do with books.

Haha, I'm a book-worm aswell. My favourites are LOTR(of course), Picture Of Dorian Grey, Dracula, Faust... I like all genres, except for those idiotic "rich-boy-and-a-poor-girl-fall-in-love-and-fight-all-the-time-but-suddenly-she-finds-out-that-her-REAL-parents-left-her-lots-of-money-and-she-gets-rich-marries-her-beloved-and-lives-happily-ever-after" love stories. I also love poetry, especially E. A. Poe and Charles Baudelaire.

Haha, I'm a book-worm aswell. I'm not alone! ;D At the moment I'm reading "Shadowmarch" by Tad Williams. There's a website set up in relation to this book, but I don't want to go there until I've finished it - knowing my luck there will be loads of spoilers on there! Before that I read the 'Cosmic' or 'Space' trilogy by CS Lewis. I found that, at first, the books didn't flow too well but after a while you got used it. (BTW, the trilogy is made up of "Out Of The Silent Planet", "Perelandra" and "That Hideous Strength"). I haven't read any poetry for a fair while... Any recommendations?

Umm... not too sure about poets, but I like anything that's a bit dark (eg William Blake etc)

And how about John Donne? I don't think I know him. I will see if I can look up some stuff though

Yeah, you should. There is a webpage with all his poems... One of my favourites is "Holy Sonnet#10":
Death, be not proud, though some have called thee Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so ; (CoB fans, remember this? ;D ) For those, whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow, Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me. From rest and sleep, which but thy picture be, Much pleasure, then from thee much more must flow, And soonest our best men with thee do go, Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery. Thou'rt slave to Fate, chance, kings, and desperate men, And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell, And poppy, or charms can make us sleep as well, And better than thy stroke ; why swell'st thou then ? One short sleep past, we wake eternally, And Death shall be no more ; Death, thou shalt die.

I don't really find many books to be scary, maybe creepy or unnerving are better words. I'm currently reading Star Trek - Invasion because I'm a geek. I've finished Shadowmarch by Tad Williams (it was brilliant, I can't wait for the next one) and "The Wolf of Helocene" by Mark Taylor.

I recently finished Khai Of Ancient Khem by Brian Lumely. That was absolutely excellent, even though I wasn't too keen on the ending (it could've been better).
I'm not reading Spiderworld: The Tower by Colin Wilson.
